Prime Minister's Information and Broadcasting Adviser Dr Zahed Ur Rahman has announced a firm stance against disinformation, stating that his office will not accept any photocard from the media that is based on false or misleading information.

"We will take a strong stance on this. We will not accept disinformation-based photocards from the media," he told journalists during a briefing at the Secretariat on Tuesday, April 28.

The adviser said the government is and will remain strict on this matter. He expressed confidence that the trend of disinformation will decline. He added that investigating past incidents, apprehending those responsible, and ensuring their punishment will be part of efforts to counteract the issue.

Regarding militancy in the country, he noted two extreme narratives – one claiming Bangladesh is overrun with militants and another claiming there are no militants at all. He said both are incorrect. He acknowledged that there is a tendency towards militancy in Bangladesh involving some individuals, and efforts are being made to control any attempts to become more active.

On the issue of measles vaccines, the adviser agreed with a journalist that action should be taken against those responsible for the situation due to negligence.
