Government withdraws 68 assistant commissioners from upazilas

The government has withdrawn 68 Assistant Commissioners (Land) from their respective upazilas and attached them to the offices of divisional commissioners as Senior Assistant Commissioners pending their next postings.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued separate notifications on Monday (September 28) through its Field Administration-1 branch, ordering the immediate withdrawal of the BCS (Administration) cadre officers from their current postings.

Under the orders, the officials will remain attached to the offices of the divisional commissioners until they receive new postings. The affected officers were serving in upazilas across the Barishal, Sylhet, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Khulna, Dhaka and Rangpur divisions.

The notifications contain details of the officials, including their names, identification numbers, current workplaces and the respective divisional commissioner’s offices to which they have been attached.

The orders, issued in the public interest, took effect immediately.

The authorities have also been directed to update the officials’ records on the Bangladesh Public Service Commission and Ministry of Public Administration websites, as well as the Government Employees Management System.

The move comes amid a series of transfers and fresh postings involving field-level officials in recent weeks. The Land Ministry has also issued recent directives concerning transfers and postings of officials working at the field level.
