Government working towards national unity and nation-building: Home Minister

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said that the current government is working towards national unity and nation-building.

He told reporters after exchanging Eid greetings with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Prime Minister's residence in Gulshan in the capital on Thursday.

The Home Minister said that everyone, regardless of party or opinion, must unite to build a developed and prosperous Bangladesh.

He said that our main goal and only slogan is - Bangladesh first. We will work, build the country, Bangladesh first - and we want to move forward with everyone by holding this principle.

He also said that after August 5, 2024, people in the country are celebrating various festivals including Eid in a relatively peaceful and free environment. He urged everyone to pray for peace, order, development and prosperity of the country.

Regarding the Prime Minister's program on the occasion of Eid, he said that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and his wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman visited the graves of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia at Zia Udyan in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital.

Later, they visited the graves of Arafat Rahman Koko and Dr. Zubaida Rahman's father at Banani Graveyard. They also paid homage to the memory of the BGB members killed in the Peelkhana massacre and offered prayers.

State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam and the son of the Home Minister and BCB Ad Hoc Committee member Syed Ibrahim Ahmed were present at the press briefing.
