Govt appeals against Tarique Rahman's acquittal in 21st August grenade attack case

In the widely discussed 21st August grenade attack case, the interim government has filed an appeal against the acquittal of Tarique Rahman and the other accused. The appeal was submitted to the appropriate branch of the Supreme Court's Appellate Division.
Attorney General Mohammad Asaduzzaman confirmed the news on Wednesday (March 19), stating, "The hearing for this appeal will take place in the Appellate Division's chamber judge court."
Earlier, on December 1 of the previous year, the High Court bench consisting of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Syed Enayet Hossain acquitted Tarique Rahman and all other accused.
On 10 October 2018, a Dhaka court pronounced the death sentence for 19 mostly BNP activists, including former home minister Lutfuzzaman Babar, and sentenced 19 others, including Tarique Rahman, to life in prison.
