Govt committed to building merit-based, confident human resources: PM

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said there is no alternative to building a merit-based, skilled and people-friendly public administration to achieve the vision of a developed Bangladesh, stating, "The government is committed to developing a merit-driven, confident, creative and responsible human resource base."

He made the remarks on Saturday morning (April 25) while attending a programme in the capital’s New Eskaton area, where he laid the foundation stone of BIAM Foundation’s third building.

Praising the role of the BIAM Foundation, the Prime Minister said its progress since inception reflects the long-standing commitment to a trained and efficient public administration aimed at serving national interest.

He added that the government intends to continue this approach in the future.

Referring to the 2024 July–August mass uprising, Tarique Rahman said it had reaffirmed that the people are the true owners of the state, adding that citizens had long been expecting a transparent, accountable and welfare-oriented governance system.

He also stressed the need for a more people-centric bureaucracy in building a modern and prosperous state, highlighting the importance of training to ensure public servants act as true service providers.

After the foundation ceremony, the Prime Minister visited BIAM Foundation activities and exchanged views with officials.

Senior government officials, cabinet members and distinguished guests were present at the event.
