Govt committed to ensuring quality healthcare: Finance Minister

The government's commitment to ensuring quality healthcare for the people will be fulfilled, Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has said.

He made the remarks at a discussion titled 'Path to Becoming an Entrepreneur in Bangladesh's Health Sector' at a hotel in the capital on Tuesday, July 7.

Referring to a comparative competition between public and private healthcare services, Amir Khasru said the quality of private sector services is quite good, while public healthcare lags somewhat behind. However, the government is trying to address this.

The finance minister also said the health sector has been given special importance in the national budget, with attention given to both equipment and health entrepreneurs.

He said the current government, elected by the people's votes, is fully committed to ensuring the health security of the people.
