Govt decides to procure 260,000 tonnes of oil to ensure energy security
The government has decided to procure 260,000 metric tonnes of fuel oil to ensure the country's energy security. The decision was made at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase on Tuesday, March 31.
It was decided at the meeting that steps have been taken to meet the country's emergency fuel needs in the current unstable global situation, particularly in the context of the Iran-US-Israel conflict, based on a proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division. To this end, a proposal to procure 100,000 metric tonnes of crude oil through direct purchase method from the international market via Abir Trade and Global Markets has been approved.
Based on another proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, the procurement of 100,000 metric tonnes of diesel with EN590-10 PPM sulphur specification from ExxonMobil Kazakhstan Inc (EMKI) through the direct purchase method in international procurement has been approved.
Additionally, based on another proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, the procurement of 60,000 metric tonnes of gas oil 0.5 per cent 'S' (diesel) under contract from PT Bumi Siak Pusako Japin (BSP Japin), Indonesia, a listed company on a G-to-G basis, has been approved.
