Govt emphasising english training for primary school teachers: PM
The government is prioritising English language training for primary school teachers as part of efforts to improve teaching standards and classroom effectiveness, the Prime Minister told Parliament on Wednesday (April 15).
Responding to a written question from MP Humayun Kabir Chowdhury during the national session, the Prime Minister said the current administration’s manifesto places special emphasis on enhancing teachers’ skills through structured training programmes.
He noted that there are currently 3,76,489 primary school teachers across the country, adding that 1,30,000 of them have already received English training under the ongoing Fourth Primary Education Development Programme (PEDP-4).
The Prime Minister further said that the Fifth Primary Education Development Programme (PEDP-5), a five-year initiative, is scheduled to begin on July 1.
Under the new programme, the remaining teachers will be brought under English language training, he added.
The session was presided over by Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed (Bir Bikram).
