Govt expresses grief as 2 Bangladeshis killed in Saudi airstrike

Two Bangladeshis were killed in an airstrike in Al-Kharj Governorate, Saudi Arabia. The Bangladesh government has expressed deep shock over the incident.

A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the loss of lives of innocent Bangladeshi civilians in the ongoing conflict in the Middle East is a matter of deep concern. The deceased have been identified as Bachchu Mia, a resident of Katiadi in Kishoreganj, and Mosharraf Hossain, a resident of Sakhipur in Tangail. The injured are receiving treatment at a local hospital.

Bangladesh Embassy officials in Riyadh have inquired about the injured and are in close contact with Saudi authorities regarding the repatriation of the bodies of the deceased.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs further said that Bangladesh strongly condemns the attack that claimed the lives of innocent people and calls on all parties concerned to exercise utmost restraint. At the same time, the international community has been urged to take urgent and effective steps to defuse the situation and prevent further loss of life.

The Bangladesh government attaches utmost importance to the safety and welfare of its citizens in the Middle East and is closely monitoring the ongoing situation.
