Govt forms five-member cabinet panel on cyber security law amendment
The government has formed a five-member cabinet committee to review and finalise the draft of the "Cyber Security (Amendment) Act, 2026," according to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division.
Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam has been made convener of the committee.
The other members are Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman, Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon, and Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman.
According to the notification, the committee will review the draft amendment law, recommend necessary revisions, and prepare the final draft based on those recommendations.
The initiative marks the start of a process aimed at making the existing cyber security law more time-appropriate and effective through the proposed amendments.
