Shafiqul Alam, press secretary to the Chief Adviser, has stated that the government is fully prepared politically, administratively, and in terms of security for the upcoming election.

Speaking at a briefing at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka on Tuesday evening (January 6), he said, “With only 37 days remaining until the election, our preparations are complete. We have a clear profile of those spreading confusion.”

The Press Secretary added, “Security forces—including the police, military, and BGB—are performing their duties with confidence. Recently, three major events—the funeral of Sharif Osman bin Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha, the return of BNP’s acting Chairperson Tarique Rahman, and the funeral of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia—were successfully conducted with large public gatherings and complete peace. Such simultaneous large-scale events have not happened before in Bangladesh, and our security forces managed them efficiently.”

In response to a question, he said, “The United Nations generally does not send observers for this type of election, so we are ensuring all preparations internally. The government’s goal is to conduct a free, fair, and credible election.”
