Govt imposes 2-year jail term for cyber gambling

The government has introduced strict measures to combat online gambling and cyber fraud. Under the new Cyber Security Ordinance-2025, individuals involved in gambling, fraud, or deception in cyberspace face up to two years in prison, a fine of up to Tk 1 crore, or both.

The Information and Broadcasting Ministry issued an official statement on Friday outlining these penalties.

The new regulations fall under Section 20 of the Cyber Security Ordinance, aiming to strengthen legal action against cybercrimes and protect users from digital threats.
