The government is working to attract foreign investment to develop world-class tourism infrastructure in Bangladesh, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M. Rashiduzzaman Millat said on Saturday (April 25).

Speaking as chief guest at the inauguration of the ‘Beautiful Bangladesh Run 2026 (Season-2)’ at Hatirjheel in the capital, the minister said discussions are underway with Emaar Properties, a globally renowned UAE-based developer known for building the Burj Khalifa.

“We are working to bring in foreign investment to build international-standard tourism facilities. Talks are ongoing with Emaar Properties, and there is a plan to involve them in developing tourism infrastructure in Bangladesh through public-private partnership (PPP),” he said.

Highlighting the role of promotional initiatives, the minister praised the event organised by the Aviation and Tourism Journalists’ Forum of Bangladesh, saying such event helps raise health awareness while also contributing to the growth of the country’s tourism sector.

The run began at 6:00am from the Police Plaza point at Hatirjheel, featuring a 7.5-kilometre competitive race and a 2-kilometre fun run, with around 1,000 marathoner taking part.

Winners were awarded trophies, medals and prizes, including air tickets to various destinations, at the closing ceremony.
