Govt moves to issue Interpol Red Notices against 3 factory owners
The government has initiated steps to issue Interpol Red Notices against the owners of three garment factories accused of delaying workers’ wage payments.
The factory owners targeted in this move are Shahadat Hossain Shamim, Managing Director of TNZ Group; Ittemad Uddoula, Chairman of Dird Group; Nabil Uddoula, Managing Director of Dird Group; and Mamunul Islam, Managing Director of Roar Fashion Limited.
According to a press release issued Tuesday by Abdul Malek, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, the ministry has formally requested the Police Headquarters to send a red notice request to Interpol against these factory owners and managing directors.
The accused have reportedly been living abroad for an extended period. This initiative follows several cases filed in the Labour Court in Gazipur and the first and third Labour Courts in Dhaka concerning wage disputes.
Brigadier General (Retd.) M. Sakhawat Hossain, Adviser to the Ministry of Labour and Employment, said the government is determined to bring the accused back to the country to ensure that workers receive their due wages and benefits.
Lutfe Siddiqui, Special Envoy for International Affairs to the Chief Adviser, added that the government will not tolerate any negligence or failure by factory owners in safeguarding the rightful claims of workers.
This move underscores the government’s commitment to protecting labor rights and enforcing accountability within the garment sector.
