Govt offices told to cut fuel, electricity, gas use by 30pc
The government has ordered a 30 per cent reduction in fuel, electricity and gas consumption at government offices to cut operational costs.
Additionally, the prime minister, ministers and state ministers will take 30 percent less of their monthly allocated fuel for official vehicle use.
A press release from the Cabinet Division on Friday afternoon, April 3, confirmed the decisions taken at the cabinet meeting held on Thursday, April 2. The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Parliament Secretariat's cabinet room.
The release also stated that the purchase of vehicles, water vessels, aircraft and computers in the government sector must be reduced by 100 percent.
Other decisions include a 20 percent reduction in spending on beautification of residential buildings and a 50 percent reduction for non-residential buildings. Land acquisition has been suspended entirely for the time being.
