Govt orders digital attendance to ensure accountability

The government has instructed authorities to introduce digital attendance systems at government offices to ensure officials and employees are present and accountable during working hours.

The directive was discussed at the first secretaries’ meeting of the new government, held at the Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon (September 15) under Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani, according to officials familiar with the meeting.

Secretaries were also urged to take necessary measures to prevent irregularities and corruption in government activities and strengthen transparency in public service delivery.

The meeting reviewed various administrative priorities, including the implementation of government programmes and coordination among ministries and divisions.

Officials were instructed to ensure transparency and accountability in priority programmes, particularly the Family Card and canal excavation initiatives, from fund disbursement to beneficiary selection.

The meeting also discussed filling vacant government posts and improving the overall efficiency and effectiveness of public administration.
