The government has set a target of sending approximately 1.4 million Bangladeshi workers to various countries in the upcoming fiscal year.

State Minister for Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Nurul Haque Nur disclosed this information while responding to a starred question from Dhaka-1 MP Khandaker Abu Ashfaque during the second sitting of the 13th National Parliament's second session on Monday, June 8. Deputy Speaker Kayser Kamal presided over the session.

The state minister said that from July 1, 2025, to May 31, 2026, a total of 933,815 Bangladeshi workers have gained overseas employment in various countries. He also noted that the government is making relentless efforts to expand overseas employment opportunities by sending skilled and professional workers to different countries.

Diplomatic and bilateral discussions are ongoing with Malaysia, Oman, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain to reopen and expand labour markets in countries where Bangladeshi worker recruitment is currently limited or suspended.
