Govt to appoint tag officers at petrol pumps nationwide

The government has decided to appoint tag officers at all petrol pumps across the country to strengthen monitoring and oversight.

The decision was taken during an online meeting chaired by Mohammad Saiful Islam, secretary of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources.

Under the plan, each petrol pump will have one designated tag officer. In Dhaka and Chattogram city areas, the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) will oversee the appointments.

In other districts and divisional cities, the respective Deputy Commissioners and Upazila Executive Officers will appoint a government official as tag officer for each petrol pump in their jurisdiction.

The tag officers will operate under the directives of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources and BPC, submitting daily reports on pump operations.

Authorities have instructed that tag officer appointments be completed promptly and the information submitted to the ministry without delay.
