Govt to make decisions based on July spirit: Home Minister
Home Minister and BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has said that the current government will take all steps by keeping in mind the original spirit and aspirations of the July Uprising. He also confirmed that the government will accept the 'indemnity' (immunity) given to the fighters who participated in the July movement.
The first meeting of the special committee of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad was held in the cabinet room of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Tuesday morning (March 24). The Home Minister gave this information in response to various questions from journalists before attending the meeting.
Salahuddin Ahmed said, "A total of 133 ordinances were issued during the interim government. These ordinances will be reviewed in detail in today's meeting. According to parliamentary rules, a final decision on this matter needs to be taken within 30 working days. We will take decisions in every case by giving the aspirations of the July Uprising the highest priority."
He further said that the issue of political naming of various institutions is also on the main agenda of today's meeting. Effective decisions will be taken on changing all controversial names in light of the people's demands.
Top leaders of the government and opposition parties participated in the special committee meeting that began at the Parliament House.
