The prices of green chilli and eggs shot up further on Monday, reaching previous records. The green chilli market has become volatile as retail prices reach Tk 600-700 a kg depending on city areas. Wholesale price hits Tk 500-525 a kg at Karwan Bazar, Beribadh, Shyambazar, sources said. Traders attributed the hike to recent rain and flood that has damaged almost 80 per cent of summer crops. And a low import also has made the condition worse, said Md Farid, an employee of Bismillah Store, at West Dhanmondi, said. Egg price, which showed a slight decline last week, again increased to Tk 185-190 a dozen, touching the 2022 record. Egg witnessed a Tk 10-15 a dozen hike just in a day, according to groceries. Market observers urged for strict market monitoring to bring check and balance to the market.

দেশের বাজারে কাঁচা মরিচ ও ডিমের দাম বেড়েই চলছে। এলাকাভেদে মরিচের কেজিপ্রতি দাম বেড়ে ৬০০-৭০০ টাকা। অন্যদিকে ডিমের ডজন খুচরা বাজারে বিক্রি হচ্ছে ১৮৫-১৯০ টাকায়। সোমবার (১৪ অক্টোবর) রাজধানীর কারওয়ান বাজার, বেড়িবাঁধ, শ্যামবাজারে ঘুরে দেখা যায় কাঁচা মরিচের পাইকারি কেজিপ্রতি ৫০০-৫২৫ টাকায় বিক্রি হচ্ছে। এছাড়া বেশ কয়েকটি এলাকায় দেখা গেছে সপ্তাহের ব্যবধানে ডিমের দাম বেড়েছে ১০-১৫ টাকা। যা ২০২২ সালের রেকর্ড দামকেও হার মানিয়েছে। ব্যবসায়ীরা বলছেন, সাম্প্রতিক বৃষ্টি ও বন্যায় গ্রীষ্মকালীন ফসলের প্রায় ৮০ শতাংশ ক্ষতি হয়েছে। তাই সরবরাহ কম থাকায় বাজারে ঘাটতি রয়েছে কাঁচা মরিচের। ফলে দামে এর প্রভাব পড়েছে। পশ্চিম ধানমন্ডির এক মুদি দোকানি ডিমের দাম বৃদ্ধির কারণ হিসাবে আমদানির অপ্রতুলতা রয়েছে মনে করেন। বাজারের এ পরিস্থিতিতে ভোক্তা সাধারণ মনে করেন, এসব পণ্যের দামে স্বস্তি আনতে মনিটরিং ব্যবস্থাকে আরো জোরদার করা প্রয়োজন।
