GST university admission deadline extended to July 21

The deadline for final admission to the 2025-26 academic year's first-year honours programmes at 20 GST (General, Science and Technology) cluster universities has been extended due to adverse weather conditions.

Under the new decision, students will be able to complete their final admission formalities until July 21.

Currently, a total of 420 seats remain vacant in GST cluster universities.

The decision was made at an emergency virtual meeting of the cluster admission committee on Saturday afternoon, July 18. The meeting was chaired by Professor Dr A K M Matinur Rahman, convener of the examination committee and Vice-Chancellor of Islamic University.

It was observed that adverse weather had prevented many students from reaching their respective universities within the scheduled time.

Barishal University and Patuakhali Science and Technology University still have a large number of vacant seats. The majority of the 420 vacant seats are in these two universities.

Islamic University's Acting Registrar Professor Dr Manjurul Haque said 36 seats remain vacant at the university — 35 under the merit quota and one under the quota category.
