Hadi murder attempt: Prime suspect Faisal’s parents arrested

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested the parents of Faisal Karim Masud, the prime accused in the attempted murder case of Sharif Osman Hadi.

The arrests were made around 5:30am during a raid in the Hasnabad Housing area of South Keraniganj in Dhaka on Tuesday (December 16).

Those arrested are Faisal’s father, Md Humayun Kabir, 70, and mother, Mosa Hasi Begum, 60.

RAB also recovered two foreign-made pistols used in the attack from the Taruar Bil area in Narsingdi. During the operation, another youth named Faisal was detained.

According to a RAB statement, Faisal Karim is the couple’s third child and frequently visited his sister’s residence in Agargaon. On the day of the incident, he arrived at the apartment with a bag, later leaving a black bag near the stairway before asking his nephew to retrieve it. He reportedly discarded one of the two mobile phones he used by throwing it from the rooftop, while leaving the other with his mother, Hasi Begum, before meeting his parents.

RAB said that after leaving the Agargaon residence, Humayun Kabir and his wife went to their younger son Hasan Mahmud Bablur’s house in Keraniganj. They later purchased two SIM cards from the Jurain area and were using them.

The arrested couple has been handed over to the investigating officer of the case for further legal proceedings, RAB added.
