'Hai Hossain, Hai Hossain' echoes across capital as Tajia processions begin
Members of the Shia community have taken out the Tajia procession from the historic Husseini Dalan in Old Dhaka on the occasion of the holy Ashura on Friday, June 26. The procession commenced with religious fervour, grief and strict security measures in place.
The procession began after 10:00 am, with many participants wearing black attire to mark the historic tragedy of Karbala. They recited dirges and chanted religious slogans.
Men, women and children of all ages participated, carrying symbolic Tajias, alams and nishans that represent the memory of Karbala.
The atmosphere was filled with the chant of 'Hai Hossain, Hai Hossain'. The procession is scheduled to proceed from Husseini Dalan through Azimpur, Nilakhet, Newmarket and Science Lab towards Dhanmondi.
Special security measures have been put in place across the capital for the Tajia procession. Members of SWAT, RAB, police and detective branches have been deployed in and around the Husseini Dalan and surrounding areas.
Surveillance is being maintained along the entire route. Additional police personnel are on duty at key intersections, keeping watch over suspicious individuals and vehicles.
