Hajj registration ends September 24
Only 3,741 people have so far registered against Bangladesh's quota of 78,500 for the 2027 Hajj. Of them, 1,065 registered under government management and 2,676 under private management. As a result, a large portion of the designated quota remains outside registration.
The deadline for 2026 Hajj registration is September 24. The Ministry of Religious Affairs has said there will be no opportunity to extend the time beyond this. According to Saudi government directives, Bangladesh's final number of Hajj pilgrims will be communicated to Saudi authorities as soon as registration ends.
In this regard, a circular was issued by Bangladesh Bank's Foreign Exchange Policy Department-1 on Thursday, September 17. It requested intending Hajj pilgrims, Hajj agencies, banks involved in Hajj activities and all concerned to complete registration within the stipulated time.
The circular stated that registration for the 2027 Hajj began on July 27 and will end on September 24. There will be no opportunity to extend the registration period beyond the stipulated time.
After communicating Bangladesh's final number of Hajj pilgrims to Saudi authorities, the Saudi-phase money will be remitted based on the final number. Additionally, necessary activities including medical tests, fitness certificates, vaccination and training for Hajj pilgrims will be undertaken.
The Bangladesh Bank circular further stated that, according to Saudi government directives, all concerned must complete registration within the stipulated time to confirm travel for the 2027 Hajj.
This year, Bangladesh's Hajj pilgrim quota has been set at 78,500. But as of September 9, only 3,741 had registered. In other words, registration for around 74,759 people of the designated quota is still pending.
