Hasan Mahmud, Naufel among 22 named in formal charges filed at ICT

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has receieved formal charges against 22 individuals, including former Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud, in connection with alleged crimes against humanity during the July 2024 uprising in Chattogram.

The charges were filed by the ICT prosecution on Sunday (April 5 ).

Other noteable figures include former Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Naufel, and former MP ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury.

The charges include three counts: the first alleges the killing of Md. Wasim Akram, Foysal Ahmed Shanto, and Md. Faruk on 16 July 2024; the second involves the murder of Tanvir Siddiqui, Md. Simon, and Hridoy Chandra on 18 July; and the third pertains to the serious injury of more than 100 individuals during the unrest.

The tribunal proceedings are ongoing, and the accused are yet to respond to the charges.
