HC denies anticipatory bail to actor Riaz in two cases

The High Court has rejected and struck off the anticipatory bail petitions filed by actor Riaz Uddin Ahmed Siddique in two separate cases filed with Jatrabari and Shahbagh police stations in the capital during the July uprising.

A High Court bench comprising Justice KM Zahid Sarwar and Justice Sheikh Abu Taher issued the order on Thursday, September 3.

Riaz had filed the anticipatory bail petitions in the High Court in two separate cases from Jatrabari and Shahbagh police stations. The petitions were listed for hearing on Thursday.

Senior lawyer Motahar Hossain Saju appeared for Riaz, while Deputy Attorney General Md Manjurul Alam Sujon represented the state. Riaz was present in court during the hearing.

Deputy Attorney General Md Manjurul Alam Sujon said Riaz had filed two anticipatory bail petitions in the two separate cases from Jatrabari and Shahbagh police stations. The court rejected the petitions and struck them off the list.
