HC issues rule to declare Abu Sayed, Mugdha as 'national heroes'
The High Court has issued a rule questioning why Shaheed Abu Sayed, Mir Mugdha, Wasim, and other martyrs of the July-August mass uprising should not be recognized as national heroes.
The High Court bench led by Justice Fahmida Kader issued the rule on Monday (14 July).
The court also questioned why a directive should not be issued to create a precise and trustworthy list of the movement's martyrs and publish it as an official gazette.
The Cabinet Secretary, Law Secretary, and other relevant authorities have been instructed to respond to the rule within four weeks.
Advocate Mohammad Ali Jinnah represented the petitioners, while Assistant Attorney General Ikramul Kabir represented the state.
Additionally, the court raised the question of why Dr. Yunus, the Chief Adviser of the interim government, should not be recognized as the national reformer of the new Bangladesh.
