HC order stayed, election in Cumilla-2 to be held under EC-determined boundaries

The Appellate Division has stayed the High Court order that declared the Election Commission, EC, gazette on the delimitation of the Cumilla-2 parliamentary constituency illegal. As a result, the election in Cumilla-2 will be held in accordance with the new boundaries determined by the EC.

On Tuesday, January 20, the Appellate Division, headed by the Chief Justice, issued the order after allowing a leave to appeal filed against the High Court verdict.

According to the Appellate Division’s order, the upcoming election will be held in the Cumilla-2 constituency comprising Homna and Titas upazilas.
