The High Court has ordered an investigation into unprecedented allegations of irregularities, corruption, fraud and nepotism in recruitment at the under-construction Rooppur nuclear power plant in Ishwardi, Pabna. The High Court bench comprising Justice Ahmed Sohel and Justice Fatema Anwar issued the order. Lawyer Masud Ahmed Saeed, representing the petitioner, confirmed the matter to the media on Tuesday, February 24. The court directed forming a high-level committee led by the Science and Technology Ministry secretary to investigate and submit a report within two months. Earlier, a writ petition was filed with the High Court seeking directives to investigate the allegations. The petition included reports regarding recruitment fraud at the Rooppur nuclear power plant.

পাবনার ঈশ্বরদীতে নির্মাণাধীন রূপপুর পারমাণবিক বিদ্যুৎকেন্দ্রের নিয়োগে দুর্নীতি, কেলেঙ্কারি, তদবির ও আত্মীয়তাবাদ সংক্রান্ত অভিযোগ তদন্তের নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন উচ্চ আদালত। হাইকোর্টের বেঞ্চ—নির্মিত ন্যায়পীঠ বিচারক আহমেদ সোহেল ও বিচারক ফাতেমা আনোয়ার এই আদেশ দিয়েছেন। প্রতিনিধি আইনজীবী মাসুদ আহমেদ সাঈদ মঙ্গলবার (২৪ ফেব্রুয়ারি) সাংবাদিকদের জানান, আদালত বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তি মন্ত্রণালয়ের সচিবের নেতৃত্বে একটি উচ্চপর্যায়ের কমিটি গঠনের নির্দেশ দিয়েছে। কমিটিকে দুই মাসের মধ্যে তদন্ত সম্পন্ন করে প্রতিবেদন জমা দেওয়ার জন্য বলা হয়েছে। এর আগে একটি রিট আবেদন হাইকোর্টে দায়ের করা হয়েছিল, যাতে রূপপুর পারমাণবিক বিদ্যুৎ কেন্দ্রের নিয়োগ প্রক্রিয়ায় দুর্নীতি ও কেলেঙ্কারি সংক্রান্ত অভিযোগ তদন্তের নির্দেশ চাওয়া হয়। আবেদনপত্রে ওই কেন্দ্রের নিয়োগে ঘটে যাওয়া নানা অনিয়ম ও প্রতারণার খবরও সংযুক্ত করা হয়।
