HC to hear petition on SM Farhad’s DUCSU candidacy Tuesday

The High Court has scheduled a hearing for Tuesday regarding a petition challenging the validity of SM Farhad’s candidacy for the position of General Secretary in the upcoming Dhaka University Central Student Union (DUCSU) elections.

The bench, headed by Justice Habibul Gani and Justice Sheikh Tahsin Ali, set the date during a hearing on Sunday.

SM Farhad is running as a candidate from the Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir-supported panel, ‘Oikyoboddho Shikkharthi Jote’ (United Students’ Alliance). He currently serves as the president of the Dhaka University branch of Chhatra Shibir.

The petition was filed by BM Fahmida Alam, the Liberation War and Democratic Movement Secretary candidate from the left alliance-backed panels ‘Oporajeyo 71’ and ‘Odommo 24’. The petition was registered as item number 285 on the court’s docket on Sunday.

After hearing the case, the High Court bench fixed the next hearing for Tuesday.
