Heavy rain forecast in 6 divisions, floods may worsen

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast heavy to very heavy rain in six divisions including Dhaka, and warned that the ongoing flood situation may worsen. The department also said thunderstorms and rainfall are likely to continue across most parts of the country over the next few days.

According to the forecast issued on Saturday, July 11, signed by meteorologist Dr Md Omar Faruk, light to moderate rain is expected in most areas of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions until Sunday evening. Heavy to very heavy rain is likely in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.

The weather pattern is expected to persist through the week, with very heavy rain continuing in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions until Monday. The department also forecast moderate to heavy rain in six divisions on Tuesday, with heavy rain in parts of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Khulna divisions on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Met office said the rain trend is likely to continue beyond the next five days.
