Heavy rain triggers waterlogging, snarls traffic in capital’s airport area

Morning rain in Dhaka caused severe waterlogging on major roads, including the airport area and Mirpur, disrupting traffic and creating hardships for commuters and passengers.

Vehicles were seen partially submerged, while private cars and buses were stranded due to breakdowns, resulting in long traffic jams.

Journalist Maria Salam reported that it took over an hour and a half to travel from Mirpur to Banani.

Uttara Private Institution official Sheikh Sanjida said, "We had to wait a long time and walk part of the way to reach Uttara."

Golam Rahman also missed his appointment after being stuck in traffic between Uttara and Mirpur.

Dhaka North City Corporation Administrator Ejaz Mohammad said, "Teams have been deployed, and we hope the situation will be resolved shortly."
