Hero Alom arrested

The country’s widely discussed content creator Ashraful Alom, known as Hero Alom, has been arrested.

On Saturday, November 15, Hatirjheel police in the capital arrested him in a case filed by his wife Riya Moni.

Earlier, Hero Alom’s wife Riya Moni filed a case at Hatirjheel police station accusing Hero Alom and Ahsan Habib Selim of attempted murder, assault and intimidation.

Last Wednesday, Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Wahiduzzaman’s court issued the order after a petition from the plaintiff’s lawyer.

The plaintiff’s lawyer Ziaur Rahman Chowdhury confirmed the matter. He said, “The accused have violated bail conditions. They are not appearing in court properly. So we applied for cancellation of their bail. After the hearing, the court cancelled their bail and issued arrest warrants.”

According to the case statement, Hero Alom and his wife Riya Moni recently had a conflict. After that, Hero Alom divorced her and forced her out of the house.

On June 21, a meeting for reconciliation with the plaintiff’s family was called at a house in the Hatirjheel area. It is alleged that at that time, Hero Alom and 10 to 12 unidentified people started verbally abusing the plaintiff and her family members.

Later, they illegally entered the plaintiff’s current residence and beat her with wooden sticks. The attack left injuries on her body.

The statement also alleges that a gold chain weighing one and a half bhori was stolen from her neck. On June 23, Riya Moni filed the case at Hatirjheel police station.
