High Court grants bail to Barrister Suman attempted murder case in Chunarughat
The High Court has granted bail to former Member of Parliament Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Suman in an attempted murder case filed with Chunarughat Police Station in Habiganj. However, he will not be released from prison immediately as several other cases remain pending against him.
A High Court bench comprising Justice Sheikh Md. Zakir Hossain and Justice Md. Zakir Hossain passed the order following the final hearing on a rule issued earlier on Wednesday (July 22).
Advocate M Liton Ahmed represented Suman in court, while Deputy Attorney General Md. Esa represented the state.
Following the hearing, Advocate Liton Ahmed stated that Barrister Suman secured bail in this case after nearly 21 months. However, a total of seven cases have been filed against him. While he has obtained bail in two of these cases, bail applications for the remaining four cases are currently awaiting hearing in the High Court, making his immediate release impossible.

Around 200 unnamed persons were also accused in the case.
Barrister Suman was arrested on October 21, 2024, from the Mirpur-6 area of the capital. Subsequently, he was shown arrested in a total of seven cases filed with various police stations in the capital as well as Chunarughat Police Station in Habiganj.
