High-level meeting on DND embankment chaired by PM

A high-level review meeting on the overall situation and development activities of the Dhaka-Narayanganj-Demra (DND) embankment area was held at the Prime Minister's Office in the Cabinet Division of the Bangladesh Secretariat on Wednesday afternoon, June 3. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman chaired the meeting.

Discussions focused on resolving waterlogging, modernising drainage systems, and reviewing progress of ongoing development projects in the DND embankment area. The prime minister issued necessary directives to concerned authorities to complete the projects quickly and with quality.

Among those present were Water Resources Minister Md Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, State Minister Farhad Hossain Azad, and State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shah Alam. Dhaka South City Corporation Administrator Abdus Salam, Rajuk Chairman Engineer Md Riazul Islam, and senior officials from concerned ministries also attended.

The meeting emphasised coordinated initiatives to alleviate the long-term suffering of people in the DND area.
