Hollywood star Orlando Bloom visits Bangladesh
Hollywood actor Orlando Bloom, known for 'The Lord of the Rings' and 'Pirates of the Caribbean', is in Bangladesh for a four-day visit as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
UNICEF confirmed his visit via a Facebook post, and Bloom also shared updates and photos on Instagram.
During his visit, Bloom toured the Rohingya camps in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, checking on children’s education programmes and spending time with the young residents.
He highlighted the challenges faced by over one million Rohingya refugees, half of whom are children, due to reduced funding for education.
Bloom spoke with children about their aspirations: 14-year-old Aziz dreams of becoming an engineer and raising global awareness of Rohingya conditions using drones, while 15-year-old Husna wants to become a doctor to help others.
He emphasized that UNICEF-supported schools provide education and safe spaces, protecting children from exploitation, child marriage, trafficking, and armed groups.
Bloom has served as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador since 2009, advocating for underprivileged children worldwide.
