Holy Cross College bars married students from admission

Holy Cross College in Dhaka has barred married students from applying for admission to Class XI for the 2026–27 academic year, while students who marry after enrolling will be required to leave the institution with a transfer certificate (TC).

The conditions were outlined in the college’s recently published admission notice, which also sets several mandatory rules for students.

These rule include regular attendance in academic and practical classes, wearing the prescribed uniform, participating in physical exercise and taking part in co-curricular activities.

The college has also imposed a complete ban on bringing or using mobile phones on campus. Students unwilling to comply with the rules have been advised not to apply.

With approval from the Dhaka Education Board, Holy Cross College will conduct its own admission process. Final selection will be based on candidates’ SSC GPA and performance in a written selection test.

A total of 1,330 seats are available across three groups—780 in science, 280 in business studies and 270 in humanities.

Eligibility requirements vary by group. Science applicants must have a GPA of 5.0 in the SSC examination and must have studied higher mathematics and biology. Applicants to business studies need a GPA between 4.0 and 5.0, while humanities applicants must have a GPA between 3.0 and 5.0.

Students seeking to change groups must also meet specific GPA requirements. Those from science or business studies with a GPA of at least 4.0 may apply for humanities, while science students with a GPA of at least 4.25 may apply for business studies.

Online applications will be accepted from September 2 until midnight on September 5. The application fee is Tk500.

The selection test for humanities and business studies will be held on September 10, while the science test will take place on September 11. Results will be published after 1pm on September 15.

Selected students must confirm their admission by paying the prescribed fee online between 5pm on September 15 and noon on September 17. Failure to complete payment within the deadline will result in cancellation of the admission opportunity.
