The National Chhatra Shakti has staged a protest demanding the resignation of Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, alleging failure to arrest the attackers of Inqilab Mancha convener Sharif Osman Hadi.

As part of the programme, an effigy of the Home Affairs Adviser was burnt in Dhaka and it was announced that his funeral would be held in absentia tomorrow.

The organization took out a protest procession from Shahbagh intersection in the capital at 5pm on Thursday (December 18). The procession circled the TSC and VC premises of Dhaka University and ended at the foot of the Raju statue.

A short rally was held there after the procession. After the rally, an effigy of the Home Affairs Adviser was burnt at the foot of the Raju Sculpture. At that time, Jatiya Chhatra Shakti President Zahid Ahsan announced that the funeral procession of Home Affairs Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury will be held tomorrow, Friday after Asr prayer.

At the rally, Zahid Ahsan strongly criticized the Home Affairs Adviser and said that the current Home Affairs Adviser has failed to fulfill his duties and is not worthy of holding this position.

During the protest, the leaders and activists raised various slogans including 'Not the secretariat, the highway, the highway-the highway', 'One-two-three-four, Jahangir, you leave the throne', 'The fight against Jahangir will continue'.
