The upcoming Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations will begin on July 2, with authorities introducing CCTV-based monitoring across examination centres to ensure transparency, discipline and a malpractice-free environment.

The Dhaka Education Board issued a directive on Sunday (June 14) in this regard, stating that CCTV surveillance will be maintained at centres throughout the examination period, similar to the arrangements during SSC exams.

According to the directive, uninterrupted internet connectivity must be ensured for the DVR or NVR systems installed at examination centres to enable real-time monitoring.

All examination centres have been instructed to submit CCTV-related information to the Dhaka Education Board by June 21. The required details must be sent via email to dhakaboardcontroller@gmail.com, including CCTV device ID and password, camera brand, and DVR/NVR serial number.

The board further instructed that the email subject line must read “CCTV EIIN Number” and include the respective institution’s EIIN code.

Officials said the initiative aims to strengthen monitoring and reduce irregularities during public examinations. Similar measures during SSC and equivalent examinations earlier this year reportedly contributed to a decline in cheating and malpractice cases.

However, the move has also drawn mixed reactions from educationists, some of whom argue that continuous surveillance may increase psychological pressure on students and affect the examination environment.

Dhaka Education Board Examination Controller Professor Jesmin Taslima Banu said CCTV monitoring has been introduced to prevent cheating and ensure fair conduct of examinations.

She added that all centre secretaries have been instructed to submit the required CCTV-related information within the stipulated timeframe.
