Multimedia Reporters Association (MRA) has formed a human chain to protest the attack on several journalists, including Daily Sokal reporter Mahfuzur Rahman Shishir, by Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and activists while they were performing their professional duties.

The human chain was held at 3:30 pm on Tuesday on the road in front of the National Museum in Shahbagh. Members of the organization participated in it with banners and placards and strongly protested the attack.

The participants in the human chain alleged that journalist Mahfuzur Rahman Shishir and several other media workers were attacked by Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and activists while they were performing their professional duties. The speakers demanded that those involved in the attack be identified and brought to justice within the next 24 hours. At the same time, they demanded that the injured journalists be given appropriate compensation.

Earlier this morning, an attack on journalists took place after a procession and rally organized by the Dhaka Metropolitan South Branch of Jamaat-e-Islami on the 77th founding anniversary of the Awami League, which has banned activities at Dhanmondi No. 32.

During the rally, when journalists requested to shorten their speeches, Jamaat leaders and activists became agitated. In this, Mahfuzur Rahman Shishir was attacked and beaten by a mob, calling him an 'Awami League friend' and thrown onto the road, where he was beaten, punched and kicked. At least 10 journalists were attacked while trying to protect him. Although police and RAB members were present at the scene, they did not take any action.
