Husband commits suicide after killing his wife

The police recovered the bodies of a husband and wife from a rented house in Noakhali on Monday morning. The bodies were found on the second floor of Kochi Doctor's house in Bashundhara Colony under Ward No. 5 of Noakhali Municipality.

The deceased were identified as Mehedi Hasan Shuvo, 22, and his wife Tamanna Islam, 16. Shuvo was the son of Dulal Mia, while Tamanna was the daughter of Liton, both hailing from Dadpur Union of Sadar Upazila and the municipal area, respectively.

The deceased couple were cousins. Shuvo, along with his wife, resided at his father-in-law’s house.

Hussain Ahmed Noman, brother of Tamanna, said that they (Shuvo and Tamanna) tied the knot one year ago, and Shuvo had been living with our family since then. When there was no response from their room this morning, I immediately dialed 999 and informed the police about the situation. The police promptly arrived at the scene and successfully recovered the bodies.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Asaduzzaman has confirmed the matter. He said, “The bodies of a couple have been recovered from the same residence. Initially, the husband brutally murdered his wife by slashing her throat. Subsequently, it seems that he took his own life by hanging himself using an electric fan. The investigation is currently underway, and the authorities will retrieve the bodies and transport them to the morgue at Noakhali General Hospital for a thorough autopsy.”
