The father of seven-year-old Ramisa Akter, who was brutally killed in Dhaka’s Pallabi area, has expressed deep frustration and distrust over the country’s justice system, sparking widespread discussion on social media.

Speaking to reporters amid grief and outrage, Abdul Hannan Molla said he no longer believes justice will be served.

“I don’t want justice, because you cannot deliver it. There is no record of proper justice in this country,” he said, questioning the effectiveness of the judicial system in handling such crimes.

He added, “My daughter will never come back. This issue may stay in discussion for 15 days, then another incident will happen and everything will be forgotten.”

The remarks came after the gruesome killing of Ramisa Akter in Pallabi on Tuesday, an incident that has triggered nationwide shock and anger.

Police have arrested the prime suspect Sohel Rana and his wife Swapna in connection with the murder.

According to Dhaka Metropolitan Police Additional Commissioner SN Nazrul Islam, the accused couple had moved into the neighbourhood only two months ago.

Investigators suspect the crime may have involved a “horrific criminal motive,” while initial evidence suggests attempts were made to destroy evidence and conceal the body.

Police said the exact nature of the crime, including allegations of sexual assault, will be confirmed after autopsy and forensic reports are completed.

The murder has intensified public concern over child safety, neighbourhood security and the broader law and order situation, with many demanding swift and exemplary punishment for those responsible.
