I will not engage in corruption, nor allow others to: Bobby Hajjaj
State Minister for Education Bobby Hajjaj has said that to build the Bangladesh of tomorrow, the foundation of education must be strengthened, and a 'zero tolerance' policy against corruption will be followed in all departments under the Ministry of Education. "In the next five years, there will be no evidence of my involvement in any form of corruption within the ministry. Nor will anyone be allowed to engage in corruption."
He made these remarks while speaking as a special guest at a discussion meeting organised by the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education on the occasion of Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day on Saturday, February 21.
The State Minister said February 21 is a day of special significance for the nation. The language movement of 1952 is not just a historical event but a symbol of the Bengali people's struggle for fundamental rights. Language is the most personal and fundamental right of a person. The connection between language and one's family, emotions and consciousness is profound. Bengalis had to make sacrifices to establish this right. History testifies that no nation has achieved rights without sacrifice and struggle. Even in recent times, movements and sacrifices have been necessary to achieve rights.
Bobby Hajjaj said that after a long time, a democratically elected government has been established in the country. The greatest achievement is that representatives elected by the people's votes have assumed responsibility.
Referring to the Ministry of Education as the most important ministry in the country, he said education is the foundation of state-building. If the foundation is weak, building a tall structure is futile. Therefore, strengthening the educational infrastructure is everyone's responsibility. Three key areas must be emphasised for improving the quality of education: curriculum, classroom and consistency. The curriculum must be good, teaching must be effectively delivered in the classroom, and there must be uniformity in the quality of education across the country.
