ICT orders Mozaffar Hossain shown arrested in crimes against humanity case
The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 ordered that retired Major Mozaffar Hossain, an accused in the assassination case of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, be shown arrested in a crimes against humanity case.
A three-member tribunal led by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury passed the order on Thursday (July 23) following a petition filed by the prosecution.
The tribunal also directed that the former army officer remain in military custody.
The court set September 23 as the deadline for submitting the investigation report, directing investigators to complete the probe within the stipulated period. The tribunal also granted the investigation officer two days to interrogate the accused as part of the investigation.
In addition, the tribunal ordered that Mozaffar Hossain be produced before the court in person on the next date of hearing.
Earlier, acting on a prosecution petition, the tribunal had ordered Mozaffar's production before ICT-2 on Tuesday. In compliance with that order, he was brought before the tribunal on Thursday.
