ICT orders to produce ex-army officials Masud, Mamun on April 7

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has ordered authorities to produce two retired senior army officials before it on April 7 in connection with separate cases.

The officers are include: Lt. General (retd) Sheikh Mamun Khaled and Lt. General (retd) Masud Uddin Chowdhury.

Lt Gen (retd) Sheikh Mamun Khaled has been shown arrested in a case filed over alleged enforced disappearances during the Awami League rule, while Lt Gen (retd) Masud Uddin Chowdhury has been shown arrested in a case linked to the July killings.

The order was issued on Sunday by Tribunal-2, led by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, following separate petitions filed by the investigation agency.

Sheikh Mamun Khaled was arrested late on March 25 from his residence in Mirpur DOHS, while Masud Uddin Chowdhury was detained on March 23 from Baridhara DOHS in the capital.

Masud Uddin has been shown arrested in a human trafficking case filed with Paltan Police Station, while Mamun Khaled has been implicated in a murder case in Mirpur linked to the mass uprising.

Both have been placed on a five-day remand and are being interrogated separately by the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
