ICT rejects Hasanul Haq Inu’s retrial petition

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has dismissed a petition by Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) President Hasanul Haq Inu seeking a retrial in his war crimes case.

The verdict was delivered on Thursday (April 2) by a three-member bench of ICT-2, led by Chairman Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury.

Senior lawyer Monsurul Haq Chowdhury represented Inu in court, requesting the retrial.

Following arguments, the tribunal rejected the petition.

Another of Inu’s lawyers, Sifat Mahmud Shuvo, said the application was filed on April 1, citing recent media reports raising questions about the prosecution and investigation process, which prompted concerns over transparency in the trial.

Earlier, on March 10, Inu submitted a 64-page written explanation as his defense statement, while his lawyers also raised concerns over not being allowed to present oral testimony.
