The International Crimes Tribunal has set October 26 as the new deadline for submitting the investigation report against Sheikh Hasina and 11 others in a case involving alleged crimes against humanity during the previous Awami League government.

A three-member panel of Tribunal-1, led by Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Majumder, passed the order on Sunday (August 24) after Prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim sought a two-month extension for submitting the report.

Other members of the panel include Justices Md. Shafiul Alam Mahmud and Md. Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury.

Of the 11 accused, the prosecution has so far publicly named four: Sheikh Hasina, former army officer Ziaul Ahsan, former Defense Adviser Major General (retd) arique Ahmed Siddique, and former Inspector General of Police Benazir Ahmed.

Among the accused, Ziaul Ahsan is currently in custody and was produced before the tribunal during Sunday’s session.

The tribunal had earlier set June 24 as the submission date, which was later extended to August 24.

The case stems from allegations of disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and torture during the Awami League’s tenure over the past 15 years.

Arrest warrants for all 11 accused were issued on January 6. The prosecution had initially been directed to file the report by February 12, but multiple extensions have since been granted due to delays in the investigation process.
