IGCC hosts 'Iti Rabindranath' to mark Rabindra death anniversary

The Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) of the Indian High Commission in Dhaka organised a special evening of Rabindra Sangeet and poetry recitation titled 'Iti Rabindranath' to mark the 85th death anniversary of the poet Rabindranath Tagore.

The programme, held on Thursday night, paid tribute to the shared cultural heritage of India and Bangladesh and the timeless humanist philosophy of Rabindranath Tagore.

Popular Bangladeshi singer Swapnil Sajib performed Rabindra Sangeet at the event. The audience enjoyed Tagore's songs in his melodious voice. Poet and reciter Samiul Islam Palak performed poetry recitation.

Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka Dinesh Trivedi spoke at the event. He said Rabindranath Tagore's literature and philosophy are a shared heritage of India and Bangladesh, serving as an important bridge of peace and mutual harmony. His universal humanism continues to inspire generations of people in both countries.

The organisers said such events will continue regularly to further strengthen cultural dialogue, artistic cooperation and friendly relations between India and Bangladesh.

The event not only commemorated Tagore's timeless creations and cultural legacy but also conveyed a message of further strengthening the cultural bonds between the two countries.
