Income tax return deadline extended by 1 month more
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has extended the deadline for filing online income tax returns by one month, allowing taxpayers to submit their returns until 31 January 2026, instead of the earlier deadline of December 31, 2025.
Originally, the deadline for submitting returns was November 30, 2025, which was first extended to December 31, 2025 following requests from businesses and taxpayers.
Considering taxpayers’ convenience, NBR issued a special order on Sunday (December 28) further extending the deadline by an additional month.
According to NBR data, over 4.2 million taxpayers have registered to file returns online for the 2025-26 fiscal year, of which more than 2.6 million have already submitted their returns. Approximately 1.5 to 1.6 million taxpayers are yet to file.
NBR also reported that new registrations continue daily, with an average of over 15,000 taxpayers registering each day to submit their returns. The extension aims to provide additional time and ease compliance for all taxpayers.
