India-Bangladesh visa process to normalise soon: Indian High Commissioner

Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka Pranay Kumar Verma has said the visa process between India and Bangladesh will normalise soon. He made this remark while speaking to journalists after a meeting with Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir on Monday, March 2.

The High Commissioner said deep commercial ties exist between the two countries and India will work jointly with the new government to further expand trade. Additionally, the visa process will be normalised quickly.

Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir said the Indian High Commissioner called on him to congratulate the new government. He said several border haats and land ports along the border are currently closed, but they will be reopened soon to strengthen commercial ties.

The meeting also discussed ways to further expand bilateral trade and investment relations. Potential cooperation in emerging sectors such as digital commerce and artificial intelligence was also reviewed. Commerce State Minister Md Shariful Alam was present at the time.
